Biking at Almaden Quicksilver

16.6 miles of bike-accessible trails through oak woodland and open ridge

Biking

Bikes are not allowed on many of the trails but that still leaves these excellent bike routes, marked in red on map. All the bike trails are fire-road wide and mostly well groomed, with few furrows. Most people ride mountain bikes with a fair share of eBikes, but trails can be ridden on gravel bikes. But expect plenty of hills and the surface is quite rocky in places. Bikers can start at three of the five entrances, as shown below. Each opens onto a different part of the trail network but you can join the same trails from any entrance and visit all 16.6 miles if you chose, since they all connect. Don't get caught on the wrong trail as fines are steeper than the hills.

Suggested biking routes on Alltrails and Trailforks.

🚵 Hacienda Entrance The main entrance off Almaden Road, offering the widest range of bike-accessible trails and the most parking. A popular starting point for longer rides into the heart of the park. All rides start with a grind up to Capehorn Pass, from where you can follow the Randol trail or climb on up Mine Hill. Several nice loops can be made from that point.
🚵 Mockingbird Entrance A rarely used entry point that offers a challenging route up to Capehorn Pass where you can join other bike trails.
🚵 Wood Road Entrance The trail out of the Wood Road parking lot rolls mostly downhill to join the Mine Hill trail, from which you can access the whole park.
